Glasgow thieves steal 12-week-old puppy from van in broad daylight outside cash and carry

A couple have launched a desperate appeal for the safe return of their dog after it was stolen from a van in Glasgow, saying "we need him home".

Twelve-week-old pup Barney Bear was nabbed by a thieves from a vehicle parked outside Sher Bros Cash & Carries on Stromness Street in the Tradeston area yesterday in broad daylight.

A Lhasa Apso, Barney Bear is described as having four white paws, a black tip on his tail and a white chest.

Owner Dani Grant took to Facebook to share news of the theft, in a post which read: "Devastated to say Barney Bear our 12-week old pup was stolen today from our van in Glasgow. Four white paws, black tip on his tail, white chest.

"Please share, look on Gumtree. We need him home."

Reports suggest that the thieves were spotted on CCTV driving from the scene in a BMW vehicle.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "We received a report that a handbag and white puppy was stolen from a black VW Transporter van on Stromness Street, Glasgow, around 12.30pm on Sunday, 5 September.

"Anyone who has any information or saw anything suspicious around that time should contact us on 101 quoting incident number 1695 of 5 September."
