The King's Theatre in Glasgow has issued an update after a musical was cancelled one hour before curtain last night.

The High Life: The Musical – Still Living It! was due to hit the King's Theatre stage in the evening. However, it was cancelled due to "unforeseen circumstances".

The show stars Forbes Masson, Siobhan Redmond and Alan Cumming, and is a new musical revival of the 1990s BBC Scotland sitcom The High Life, following ageing Air Scotia cabin crew who must prove they are still “fit for purpose” after the airline is sold, or see it scrapped for good.

It has now been revealed that the cancellation was due to a family emergency affecting a key member of the production.

The King's has issued an apology and confirmed that all further scheduled performances of the show will proceed as planned.

The show will be at the King's until May 23, 2026.

A spokesperson from King's Theatre said: "Regrettably, due to a family emergency affecting a key member of The High Life The Musical team, the performance on Wednesday, May 20 at 7.30pm had to be cancelled at very short notice.

"We are hugely sorry about this and the disappointment that we know that this will have caused. This was not a decision that was taken lightly, or without exploring every possibility to go ahead with the performance.

"All further scheduled performances of The High Life the Musical will proceed as planned and all ticketholders have been contacted directly by ATG Entertainment."
