Glasgow Tesco and Asda 24-hour stores to reduce opening times to meet increased demand

24-hour supermarkets across Glasgow are reduce their opening times to help fill their shelves to meet the increased demand as a result of the coronavirus outbreak.

Tesco's 24-hour stores will reduce their hours from tonight in Glasgow, affecting their Maryhill, St Rollox, Shettleston and Silverburn stores in the city.

All four stores are to close at 10pm tonight and open from 6am to 10pm tomorrow, Thursday and Friday before returning to a 24-hour service according to their websites.

Asda have announced that they too are reducing the opening hours of their 24-hour stores across the country to help fill their shelves.

Their 24-hour stores in Glasgow have temporarily changed their opening hours from their normal hours as panic buying grows, affecting their Robroyston, Govan and Toryglen stores.

These stores will now be open from 6am to 12 am every night at the moment.

A spokesman from ASDA said: "We have temporarily reduced our 24-hour stores from their normal opening hours to ensure we can clean and fully re-stock our shelves to be ready for our customers".
