Glasgow tenement fire 'started deliberately' as police probe underway on Gallowgate street

A police probe is underway after a deliberate fire at a block of flats in Glasgow.

Emergency services were called to the scene at a two-storey tenement on Comelypark Street in the Gallowgate area around 2:30am on Monday.

Fire crews mobilised two appliances and a high reach vehicle to the scene to extinguish the fire.

There were no reported casualties.

Police have confirmed that enquiries into the blaze are ongoing, and that officers are currently treating it as wilful.

They urge anyone who may have any information that will assist the investigation to contact them.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman told Glasgow Live: “At around 2.45am on Monday, June 20 police were called to a report of a fire at a block of flats in Comelypark Street, Glasgow.

"Enquiries are ongoing and officers are currently treating the fire as wilful."

"Anyone with information that will assist the investigation should contact 101 quoting reference number 0303 of 20 June.”
