Glasgow taxi driver injured in M8 Kingston Bridge crash as police arrest 18-year-old

A black hackney driver is in serious condition in hospital after a crash on a slip road off the Kingston Bridge this morning.

The two car crash, involving the taxi and a grey Range Rover, took place on the Bothwell Street exit slip road off the M8 at Junction 19 (Anderston).

Police and emergency were alerted to the scene of the two vehicle collision around 4:30am.

The 64-year-old taxi driver was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, with what police describe as "serious injuries".

The 18-year-old driver of Range Rover escaped injury.

Police confirm that he has been arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "The 64-year-old taxi driver was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital with serious injuries. The 18 year-old driver of the Range Rover was not injured.

"An 18 year-old man has been arrested in connection with alleged road traffic offences.

"A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
