Glasgow taxi boss sacked from firm over £9k financial irregularities

A taxi boss who heads one of Britain’s biggest cab firms has been axed after a financial probe.

Glasgow Taxis chairman Stephen Flynn was suspended after alleged irregularities were discovered and has now been expelled from the company’s board.

The Record understands he has appealed to its executive committee.

It has been reported that the internal investigation related to a sum of more than £9000, which was spotted during an audit.

Sources said the books are now back in order.

One driver at the firm said: “Everyone is glad that he is gone. He is a well kent face but he needs to take this on the chin.”

Another driver said: “It’s a bit of a talking point just now on every rank in Glasgow.”

Flynn said earlier this month: “It is right to say there was an advance of wages but all the money has been paid back.”

Last night, Glasgow Taxis Ltd said: “As this is remains a live process, it would not be appropriate to comment further at this time.”
