Glasgow takeaway creates biggest German doner kebab in the UK weighing in at seven stone

A Glasgow takeaway claims to have created the biggest German doner kebab ever seen in the UK - weighing in at just over seven stone.

Staff at Yayas, on Paisley Road West, were challenged to create the largest kebab they could possibly make by a punter one evening.

Workers at the kebab house rose up to the challenge and got to work on producing its largest dish by far, the Daily Record reports.

The huge kebab uses 45kg of doner meat, which nestles inside of four and a half feet of bread - with an accompaniment of some fresh palate-cleansing salad.

It is an invention made in heaven for that first night out after coronavirus restrictions are finally lifted fully in Scotland.

But it is not quite the artery-clogging dish that we would come to expect after a heavy evening on the randan.

Yayas says that its German doner contains 99% meat and 1% fat, making it a healthier option for customers.

Behind the scenes footage of the dish making process has gone viral on TikTok - with more than 45,000 people slamming the like button.

But with the kebab taking a lengthy time to create, it's difficult to see it going on the menu any time soon.

Asad added: "It took us around five hours to get the finished product out, so it was a lot of work but we all had a good laugh making it.

"People were going crazy when three of us carried it out on the street, some folk were taking pictures of it.

"We are all so passionate about creating the food, but we love to interact with the people in the local area as well. It was so good all round."

But it has not quite reached the heights to become the longest kebab ever produced in the world.

A South African firm currently holds that title, after it produced a kebab that comes in at a length of 1.27miles in 2008, according to The Guinness Book of World Records.
