Glasgow swan spotted 'taking a jacuzzi' with three cygnets at Maryhill Locks

The majestic sight of a swan taking a 'jacuzzi' with their three cygnets has been captured on video in Glasgow.

The mute swan was spotted taking a wee shower below the overflow at Maryhill Locks on the Forth & Clyde Canal in the north of the city.

The video was shared on Twitter by Bob Elliot, director of animal campaigns charity OneKind, who witnessed the wonderful scene on Thursday afternoon.

He tweeted: "Swan jacuzzi - mute swan takes its shower below the overflow at Maryhill Locks with three cygnets (one at the back hiding) taking a ride in the surf".

In recent years Maryhill Locks has welcomed thousands of competitors taking part the Red Bull Neptune Steps event, which is billed as the UK's toughest open water swimming challenge.

The iconic lock flight assists the canal in its descent into the River Kelvin valley, and features oval basins that permit boats and barges to pass each other whilst going through the series of locks.

And with the boats and barges rarely passing along the canal these days, it seems the swan has taken perfect advantage of the unobstructed waters to enjoy a wee shower or a surf with their cygnets!
