Glasgow Subway takes dig at angry customer with 'rude wee man' cookie promotion

A Subway store in the southside is offering up free cookies to locals who say "rude wee man" when they order at the counter - in a dig to a customer who complained about having to queue up outside amid covid restrictions.

A member of staff at the Battlefield store confirmed they will be giving out the free cookie with any order for a whole week when it reopens to celebrate the refurbishment of the shop and "say thanks to folk for waiting outside in the cold".

Taking to Facebook group Battlefield Community Project this morning, they wrote: "Morning everyone, I’d like to say thanks to Katie Partridge for standing up for the staff at the Subway shop on Battlefield Rd when we were shouted at by what Katie called a “rude wee man.

"I think the customer was just frustrated by the new regs and having to wait in the rain. It’s a new phase for all of us I guess. Anyway, to celebrate the refurbishment of the Subway shop and to say thanks to folk for waiting outside in the cold we would like to offer anyone that says the phrase “rude wee man” a free cookie with any other purchase between the 7th-14 February.

"The refurbishment should be complete by Friday/Saturday and we hope to be open again by Saturday or Sunday."
