Glasgow Subway suspend card payments for 'essential maintenance'

Passengers who use the Glasgow Subway are facing disruption this morning after card payments were haulted.

Bosses say credit and debit payments are suspended while essential maintenance is carried out at stations across the city.

Stations in the city are currently only accepting cash payments until further notice.

A statement from Glasgow Subway via Twitter reads: "Apologies all, from 10am we will be unable to take any credit/debit card payments at Subway stations, while essential maintenance is being carried out by our contractor.

"Cash transactions only. Apologies for the inconvenience, we'll let you know once the issue has been resolved."

Update - All Subway stations once again able to accept credit / debit card transactions.
