Glasgow Subway closed after 'blind man fell on to track'

A 'casualty' on the tracks at Glasgow 's Bridge Street Subway station - which caused all trains to be suspended earlier may have been a blind man who was there with a guide dog.

SPT bosses announced earlier that both Inner and Outer Circle services had been .

The Scottish SPCA confirmed to the Record that an animal rescue officer had attended the scene to collect a distressed guide dog.

And eyewitnesses who spoke to Glasgow Live said the victim was a blind man

A Scottish SPCA spokesperson said: "An officer attended and collected a guide dog after being alerted by Scottish Fire and Rescue. The dog was distressed but appeared to be in good health. He was taken to Guide Dog UK."

Emergency services were called to the network after the alarm was raised earlier this afternoon.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: "We were called to Bridge Street Subway Station today 11.53pm after reports of a casualty on the tracks. "

One local tweeted:  "Just seen a guy missing half his ear, clothing covered in blood screaming uncontrollably at Bridge Street Subway."
