Glasgow street locked down as bomb squad probe 'grenade' found in house

A bomb squad unit has swooped on a residential street in Glasgow after a 'grenade' was found within a property.

Residents on Kinfauns Drive and Ledmore Drive in Drumchapel have been evacuated as police and Royal Navy Bomb Disposal Unit conduct their search.

Eyewitnesses say that locals were moved out of their homes just after 5pm this evening.

They added: "Police advising everyone not evacuated to stay inside their homes for a short while".

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Police are on the scene at Ledmore Drive.

"While conducting the search of a property, officers discovered some form of grenade.

"EOD (Explosive Ordnance Disposal) are on route to examine the device and the incident is ongoing".
