Glasgow street food market bringing back Star Wars charity takeover this weekend

The light side of the force will not be in short supply in Govan this weekend as Scotland’s largest indoor street food market hosts yet another Star Wars takeover event for charity.

Big Feed, based at 249-325 Govan Road, are hosting the event in conjunction with the Catherine McEwan Foundation who have been helping in crises at home and abroad for over 20 years. On October 1 and 2, visitors can head to the market for a variety of scran and beverages while having the chance to pose with Star Wars characters.

With themed cocktails from the movie series, and a fancy dress competition with a £100 cash prize, there’s a lot to get involved in. The takeover begins on Saturday at midday, closing at 10pm that evening.

On Sunday, the market will be open from midday until 7pm. No booking is required, and free parking is available.

Entry is priced at £3, with under 10-year-olds given free entry. NHS staff will also be given free entry.

Traders set to bring their offerings include Mac Man, Doughmans Land Pizza, Typhoon Ten, Three Sisters Bake, Firedog, Duck Street Food, Muerte Por Churros and more. There’s also a fully licensed bar, beer garden, balloon twisters and more on offer.

Menu items at various food trucks include the Jabba the Nut burger, Boba fries, Vader loaded chilli fries and an Obi-Wan pepperoni pizza.
