Glasgow street floods after light rain with pedestrians struggling to avoid giant puddles

Kent Road in Glasgow city centre flooded dramatically after light rain in the city.

The incident was recorded last week after one pedestrian shared his woes as he struggled to cross the street.

He explained: "It's kind of crazy how flooded Glasgow gets after just a bit of rain.

"It makes it horrible to walk as you have to jump everywhere to avoid getting your feet drenched."

A spokesman for Glasgow City Council said: “We are investigating the circumstances that led to this flooding incident and we will take appropriate action as necessary.

“We have a rolling programme of gully clearing of all the drains around the city with a focus on arterial routes, known flooding locations and gullies that are known to fill-up quickly.

“Depending on the circumstances known flooding locations will be cleared three times a year with gullies on arterial routes and in the city centre cleared at least once a year.

“Neighbourhood areas will have gullies cleared once every two years but we do respond to localised issues where ever possible.”
