Glasgow street blocked to traffic after road sweeper falls down huge pothole

A Glasgow street was temporarily blocked this afternoon after a road sweeper 'fell down' a huge pothole.

The incident is reported to have occurred on Quarrywood Road in the Barmulloch area in the north of the city around 3pm.

One local took to Facebook to warn road users to avoid the street after spotting the two people trying to free the road sweeper from the water-filled pothole.

Their photo was shared by local community group No1Seems2care along with the caption: "“The road sweeper has fell down the pothole on quarry wood rd and blocking the street just to advise everyone to avoid it thanks."

The incident drew sharp criticism from locals as to the condition of the road.

One person responded: "Maybe Glasgow [City] Council [should] fix it I burst my tyre the other day."

Meanwhile another wrote: "I burst my tyre on that road on Friday ….. it’s a disgrace."

And they were joined by a third person who responded: "Omg the roads are a disgrace how embarrassing."

It comes just days after Glasgow road users were warned about a huge pothole that claimed five car tyres in a row. The warning concerned a pothole located on Balmuildy Road next to Balmore Road between Summerston and Bishopbriggs.
