Glasgow steakhouse faces unknown future after chain goes into administration

Glasgow jobs are at risk after the company behind a major steak restaurant chain collapsed into administration.

Living Ventures whose Blackhouse restaurants include Grill on the Corner in Glasgow's city centre, says it has been 'left with no choice' but to call in administrators from Duff & Phelps.

The firm has two other restaurants: Grill on New York Street in Manchester and Grill on the Sqaure in Leeds.

It is hoped a buyer can be found for the affected restaurants, but one member of staff told Glasgow Live that the jobs in Glasgow have already been cut.

The employee, who asked to remain unnamed, revealed that the Bothwell Street steakhouse had decided not to reopen following lockdown.

"I worked for Blackhouse Grill on the Corner for 11 years," he said.

"Our company went into administration on 18 June and the restaurant will not open; all of the staff, including many like me with long service, are devastated."

Last year the Grill on the Corner underwent a major renovation to celebrate 12 years in the city.

But the Blackhouse brand recorded post-tax losses of £1.3m in the year to 30 March 2018, and later closed two Manchester restaurants.
