Glasgow speakeasy bar Wheesht to shut up shop

Glasgow speakeasy bar Wheesht has announced it will close in April.

It will see the popular spot shut almost a year to the day after it first opened as what was initially a four month pop-up.

Situated in the west end of the city, the bar received plenty of interest for not revealing its exact location, with punters instead having to book a table and then be met by a member of staff and led down into the basement bar.

The news of the closure came via a lengthy Facebook post, which owners saying: "On April 12, after a year and two days of being open, we will be hanging up our respective aprons and waistcoats, and Wheesht, in its current form will be no more".

The owners have also confirmed that, with five weeks left until they close Wheesht for good, they will be hosting a series of 'celebratory' parties over the next few weeks.

And there might just be something new and exciting in the works in the near future too, as they refer to the closure of Wheehst as "just the end of the beginning".
