Glasgow south side's Battlefield to hold 'Window Wanderland' in place of cancelled Lantern Parade

The south side community in the Battlefield area of the city are holding their own 'Window Wanderland' event.

Organised by the Battlefield Community Project, the event will take the place of the Lantern Parade, which was cancelled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

On Sunday 25th and Monday 26th October and covers a large area of Battlefield on the South side.

Bosses behind the Battlefield Community project said: "This is a chance for us to light up Battlefield while socially distanced!

"It’ll take place on the evening the Lantern Parade - Sunday 25th October from 6-9pm and same the following evening, but if people want to leave their displays up until Halloween, even better.

"For the event to be a success, we need as many Battlefielders as possible to sign up to be Windowmakers.  All this means is decorating and lighting up your windows, shop, or gardens for those evenings - a candle or fairy lights would suffice, but if you’re feeling more ambitious there are lots of ideas on the Window Wanderland website.

"Some of our suggestions for themes include Battlefield, Lanterns/Lantern Parades, Halloween, and the end of BST (clocks go back the night before). But anything goes, as long as it’s family friendly, safe, and lights up your window or garden."

There will be an online map to follow the windows taking part too - so you can make it a safe evening out and about.
