Glasgow south side road to remain closed after 'serious crash' between lorry and cyclist

A road will remain closed in the south side of Glasgow for a number of hours after a 'serious crash' between a lorry and a cyclist.

Emergency services, including Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and the Scottish Ambulance Service, raced to the scene earlier this morning in response to the incident, on Nithsdale Drive, at Pollokshaws Road.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "At about 9.15am this morning, we were called to a report of a serious road crash involving a lorry and a cyclist on Nithsdale Drive at Pollokshaws Road.

"Emergency services are in attendance and Nithsdale Drive will be closed for a number of hours while enquiries are being carried out."

The BBC has reported the cyclist has been 'seriously injured' in the incident, however their condition has not yet been confirmed by Police Scotland or the Scottish Ambulance Service.

A Scottish Ambulance spokesperson told Glasgow Live: "We received a call at 0912 hours today to attend a road traffic incident on Pollokshaws Road, Glasgow.

"One ambulance, a paramedic response unit and our trauma team were dispatched and our crews are currently on scene.”

Earlier posts on social media claimed the crash had been 'fatal'.

Pollokshaws Road is a major commuting route between the south side of the city and Glasgow City Centre.
