Glasgow South kids crowned champions after hitting over 100 goals on road to title

Cambuslang-based Glasgow South 2008s are celebrating after scoring over 100 goals on the way to winning their league title.

The youngsters were competing in their first full season post-Covid and for the first time at 11-a-side, but they produced a superb season to take the silverware with 18 wins from 22 matches.

The club drew twice and lost twice, scoring 118 goals in the process.

And the boys conceded just 18 times over the course of the campaign to be crowned GADYFL Division 2 league champions.

Club coach Stephen Campbell said: “It was still a challenging season with Covid-19 still around, various fixtures were cancelled throughout the season with teams still having Covid cases.

“But we managed to complete all league fixtures and the boys went on to lift the league title and be crowned GADYFL Division 2 league champions.

“It is an outstanding achievement for the boys to win league title in first full season of competitive league football.”

The league trophies were presented to all winning teams at GADYFL league presentation night recently.

Glasgow South FC 2008s have now been promoted so will be competing in GADYFL Division 1 for the upcoming 2022/2023 season.
