Glasgow skyline named among world's most photographed by tourists in new study

Glasgow's skyline had been named among the world's most photographed by tourists in a new study.

The study, carried out by image monitoring platform Pixsy, analyzed the number of Instagram posts of cities known for their iconic skylines across relevant hashtags such as #nycskyline and #madridcityscape.

The number of posts was then cross-referenced against each city's annual visitor numbers to reveal the cityscapes that were most inspiring to tourists.

The sight of the majestic Finnieston Cran, the OVO Hydro lit-up and the Squinty Bridge over the River Clyde helped earn Glasgow 18th spot on the list of the world's most photographed skyline - ahead of cities such as Madrid and Sydney.

Glasgow, which the study said inspired three skyline shots for every 1000 visitors, was among only three cities in the UK to feature in the top 20, alongside London and Manchester.

Topping the list was Jakarta in Indonesia followed by Frankfurt and Singapore. Perhaps surprisingly, New York finished in 7th place.
