Glasgow shooting sees bullet hole left in window after flat blasted by gunman

A bullet hole has been left in the window of a Glasgow flat after the property was blasted in an early morning attack.

Officers were called to the property in Dunira Street, in the Tollcross area, at 4am on Monday morning.

A gun shot was fired through the window, shattering the glass.

Pictures from the scene show the bullet hole in the window of the block of flats.

Detectives have cordoned off a section of the building, and closed off the Dunira Street and nearby Braidfauld Street.

Worried locals who heard the bang woke to police officers descending on the quiet residential area.

One told the Record: "I was sleeping then heard a massive bang.

"At first I thought it was fireworks but then the police arrived so I thought there was something else to it.

"I don't know who lives there, it's really scary to think that kind of thing is on your doorstep."

Another added: "It's not right that this kind of thing is going on.

"The noise was deafening, we didn't know what had gone on.

"It was really frightening."

A third said: "This time of year you think it's daft kids with fireworks but in the end someone has shot a gun at a window.

"I don't know who lives there or who is behind this but it doesn't make you feel safe in the area."

By around 2pm the one remaining police car guarding the area had left.

Police say enquiries are ongoing as they work to find the shooter.
