Glasgow shooting: Police have 'positive line of enquiry' after man gunned down in Barlanark

Police are following a positive line of enquiry after a man was shot on a Glasgow street last night.

The drama unfolded on Garlieston Road when officers were called to reports of an injured man at 9.35pm.

Eyewitnesses say a handgun was fired following an earlier altercation with a knife.

It's claimed an off-duty paramedic came to the aid of the injured 33-year-old while ambulance crews raced to the scene.

Armed police are also believed to have been among the large number of officers who descended on the scene in the immediate aftermath.

The victim was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary for treatment.

An updated statement released this afternoon explains: “Enquiries are ongoing and officers are following a positive line of enquiry.

“This was a targeted attack and there will be an increased police presence in the area throughout the investigation.”
