Glasgow set for sunny weather but drivers urged to take caution

Drivers in Scotland have been urged to take caution as strong winds are set to hit Scotland.

The transport experts tweeted this morning that "high winds" were to come into force today and that all motorists should "take care when passing high sided vehicles as to "expect a sudden gust as you clear the vehicle."

They also tweeted that drivers should "give cyclists, motorcyclists, lorries and buses more room as they are easily blown off track."

Despite the high winds, Glasgow's weather is fairly settled with it expected to be "bright and dry" with a few showers over the central belt region.

According to the Met Office, today (December 13) is set to stay dry with "good bright and sunny spells" which are expected to be more prolonged across Lanarkshire.

They add: "Over Argyll a showery day with some heavier outbreaks possible through the morning. West to southwest winds occasionally strong. Central Belt southwards dry with some clear spells for evening. Scattered showers over Argyll merging to longer periods of rain late in the night as southwest winds strengthen. Minimum temperature 0 °C."
