Glasgow set for highs of 18C ahead of 'mixed weather' weekend

Glasgow has just experienced a pretty rare event over the weekend and it's left us wanting more.

Yes, this weekend we actually saw the sun - and this time temperatures in Glasgow and some of the surrounding area peaked up at least 20C leaving many with an unexpected tan - and for some a sunburn.

As we start a new week, it seems as though the weather has cooled down a bit for now with rain and wind forecast - however we're also to expect more sun as we head into the weekend but it won't be a repeat of what we've just seen sadly.

According to weather forecasters at the BBC and Met Office, Glasgow is set to see highs of 18C on Friday (June 10) whilst Saturday and Sunday are set to reach peaks of 16C and 15C, respectively.

Although the temperatures remain at the far end of the double figures, it's still set to be a mixed bag with rain and wind also forecast during the weekend.

Thankfully you'll be glad to know much of the rain isn't expected until late in the afternoon leaving you to brunch and shop without getting soaked.

But what does the weather look like for the week ahead?

Glasgow's five day weather forecast according to the Met Office

Today

Vast majority enjoying another fine, dry day with light winds and good periods of sunshine, but also a chance of some isolated afternoon showers developing inland. Temperatures most favoured towards Ayrshire. Maximum temperature 20 °C.

Tonight

Some fine early evening sunshine, before turning cloudy late evening, with a band of showery rain extending from the southwest overnight, which turns heavier at times towards dawn. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Wednesday

Rather cloudy with showers and longer periods of rain, which turn heavy at times, particularly south of the Central Belt during the afternoon as thunderstorms develop. Maximum temperature 18 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday

Thursday mainly dry, occasionally bright, but also some sharp afternoon showers. More showery Friday, Saturday, with outbreaks blustery, heavy in Argyll, while parts east of Glasgow see best of shelter.
