Glasgow scissor fiend caged after 999 call threatening to go 'on a rampage' in middle of night

A man who dialled 999 and threatened to go on a “rampage” was jailed today for 14 months.

Graeme Gillespie, 27, was later snared clutching a pair of scissors in Glasgow’s Pollok area in March this year.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard Gillespie made the call at 4.47am from his sister’s house.

Prosecutor Mark Allan said: “He was saying he was going out on a rampage.

“Five minutes later his sister re-dialled to say he had left the house.”

Police caught up with Gillespie a short time later and was told to drop the black handled scissors.

He plead guilty today to the unlawful possession of scissors in a public place.

The court was told Gillespie was on license at the time for the possession of an axe.

Sheriff Andrew Cubie imposed 43 days of the previous sentence which will run consecutively with his latest conviction.
