Glasgow Science Centre to celebrate 50th anniversary of Moon landing with huge party

A celebration marking the 50th anniversary of the first time man walked on the moon is to take place at Glasgow Science Centre this summer.

The Moon50 Festival will include a showcase 60s-themed Moon Landing Party on July 20 where guests can cheer while watching Neil Armstrong set foot on the Moon.

The organisation is also calling on people throughout Scotland to get in touch with their recollections of 1969 by sharing stories of where they were, how they watched it and how it made them feel.

An estimated 530 million people watched the global event as NASA astronauts took "...one small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind" on 20 July 1969.

"The week-long festival of events are opportunities for families and communities to come together and share memories of the historic Moon landing, experience life in 1969 and talk about aspirations for the future.
