The best and worst-performing primary schools in Glasgow have been revealed.
Figures published by The Times provides a breakdown of the scores of each school in Scotland, with marks on listening and talking, numeracy, reading, and writing. This is then totalled into an overall number, with 400 the top score attainable.
The data also looks at the percentage of pupils living in deprivation at each school.
The analysis is based on teachers’ judgments of P7 attainment for every participating primary school in Scotland in 2019.
Only 64 of the 1,372 primary schools achieved top marks that saw 95% of pupils achieving high scores in all four areas. Of the 64 named, only four were in the Glasgow city area.
They are Broomhill Primary School (20 per cent deprived), Garrowhill Primary School (25 per cent deprived), Hyndland Primary School (24 per cent deprived) and Mount Vernon Primary School (11 per cent deprived). All four schools achieved an overall score of 380 out of 400.
Meanwhile, Glasgow's Annette Street Primary School in Govanhill was named the worst performing primary school in Scotland, with a score of just 30. 98 per cent of children at the school are considered to live in deprivation, according to the statistics.
Cleeves Primary School and Saracen Primary School both received a score of 180, with the percentage of deprived pupils at 94 per cent and 99 per cent, respectively.
However, other schools such as Our Lady of Peace received a relatively high score of 370 despite recording a very high percentage of deprived pupils at 99 per cent.
Responding to the rankings, a Glasgow City Council spokesperson said: "School league tables serve no purpose other than to cause division, sensationalism and upset to our staff, young people and families.
"All they do is take basic data with limited additional context, presumably as this would defeat the purpose of giving a an accurate and informed picture of the quality and depth of education, not to mention support, being delivered in our schools.
"Our families, our young people and our staff deserve to be properly represented for their achievements and hopefully these crude tables will be seen for what they are – poor quality analysis.
"It is even more disappointing when it is presented it in an even more localised and stark form that’s clearly intended to cause alarm."
