Glasgow schoolgirl 'slashed in the face' as thug tried to steal phone in terrifying attack

A 13-year-old girl has been left with a cut face after being 'attacked with a glass bottle' during a terrifying attempted robbery in Glasgow .

Police are now on the hunt for the man responsible after the incident in Finlas Street in the city's Possilpark on Tuesday.

The schoolgirl's mum shared an appeal on Facebook showing her cut-up face, which she says happened when a man ran at her from behind and tried to steal her phone.

She said "When he didn't get the phone he broke a glass bottle and put it down my girl's face.

"She's one lucky girl as he ran away but we WILL find out who done this - dirty scumbag of a man".

A police spokeswoman confirmed that officers have stepped in following the horrifying incident.

She said: "Officers are carrying out enquiries following a report of an attempted robbery of a 13-year-old girl in Finlas Street.

"The young girl did not require medical treatment and enquiries are continuing".
