Glasgow schoolboy who died in High Street tragedy was 'one in a million'

Tributes have poured in for a schoolboy who tragically lost his life in Glasgow yesterday.

14-year-old Justin McLaughlin has been described my those who knew him as 'one in a million' as tributes have poured in for the teenager following his shocking death.

Emergency services were scrambled to High Street at around 3.45pm after a report of a teenager having been seriously injured.

The youngster was rushed to Glasgow's Queen Elizabeth University Hospital but sadly he couldn't be saved.

Police have described Justin's passing as 'a shocking loss of a young life' as they confirmed a 'significant' investigation has been launched.

And social media has been flooded with tributes to Justin following the awful news of his passing.

One person said: "Fly high Justin Mclaughlin you were taken way too soon you didn’t deserve it one bit. Always in my heart."

Another added: "You're in a better place now. Words can't explain how much we miss you. Sleep tight angel."

A further tribute reads: "Rest in paradise Justin Mclaughlin, you were one in a million! Thank you for everything Justin. Keep dancing in the sky x"

Police Scotland yesterday confirmed: "A 14-year-old boy has died following an incident at a train station in Glasgow.

"Officers were called to High Street around 3.45pm on Saturday, 16 October, following a report that a teenager had been seriously injured.

"He was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead."

Detective Inspector Iain Nelson of Greater Glasgow Division said: “This has been a shocking loss of a young life and a significant investigation is underway.

“Specialist officers are supporting the boy’s family at this incredibly difficult time. Enquiries continue to establish the full circumstances and anyone who can help is urged to get in touch as soon as possible.”
