A shout out to your top shopkeepers keeping Glasgow going during lockdown

Throughout the coronavirus crisis, local shops have gone above and beyond to keep Glasgow's communities going.

From keeping us stocked up on daily essentials, to changing their whole way of working to adhere social distancing guidance or just being a friendly face in these difficult times, they've done it all.

We asked our readers to get in touch with us to pay tribute to their local shopkeepers and workers who are integral to their local area.

South Side

Ross James Conn nominated Day-Today 24hr on Cathcart Road. He said: "They've been amazing during lockdown. Always plenty of food - thanks guys!"

Navs and Gulzars Stores in Toryglen and the ladies at Gilbride Pharmacy were given a shout out by Marie McKay.

Janette McGarvey says Martin's Quality Butchers local butchers in Nitshill is "keeping the community fed during lockdown."

Margaret Hudson told us that Razzles on Old Rutherglen Road, Gorbals, is a 'brilliant shop'. She said: "Everyone who works in it are so helpful and can't do enough for their customers the shop has everything even a brilliant post office with great staff as well everything in one shop."

One O One in Cardonald received a special mention. Karen Neary name dropped Carol, Sammy, Sinead, Christine, Steph and Jack who are all "working hard".

Carole Gildea said MK Newsagents on Craigton Road, run by Akram, has "never shut" and always has the things locals need.

North Glasgow

Hardware Shop in Kings Place, Parkhouse & Possil was nominated by Franis Hackett, while Gary Walker Butcher in Possil (pictured above) makes the cut according to John James Donnelly: "Quality meat and quality prices".

East End

Wee Geven of the Mini Market on Roebank Street in Dennistoun was nominated by Nic Copeland who said: "What a guy! Always smiling and nothing is ever too much trouble. Superstar."

Alex Forbes says David Mason Butchers and Peter's general stores "helped to keep Duke Street going".

Morrisons and Londis in Baillieston were given a special shout out by Martha Reid for their "brilliant staff".

East Renfrewshire

Gary's at Stamperland Gardens, Clarkston was nominated by Jean Moore

Tariq at Netherlee Post and News was given special mentions by a number of people. Irene Harper said he "can't do enough for you, if he hasn't got it he will do his best to get it for you" and Sheena Brennan said he's been "a total star throughout".

North Lanarkshire

Fair Price in Bellshill was nominated by Grant Shaw who said "it's got everything from food to DIY."
