Glasgow's top coffee shops up for Best in Scotland prize at cafe awards

Glasgow's top coffee shops are vying to become the 'best in Scotland' after this year Scottish Café Awards shortlists were announced.

Celebrating 'the best in the Scottish coffee industry who are the real masters of coffee', top baristas, coffee specialists and representatives of local cafes 'that have transformed the process of making coffee to an art' will gather at a glitzy awards ceremony at The Marriott Hotel Glasgow on Monday, June 27.

Dozens of our city's favourite cafes are nominated across several categories.

West end favourite Papercup are in the running for the prestigious Cafe of the Year prize alongside the brilliant Billington's, while Black Pine Coffee, Canary Girl and Riverhill all compete for the Best Coffee Shop gong.

And the following nine cafes have been nominated for the Best Of Glasgow award:

  • BAM Glasgow
  • Caffé Calla
  • Art Lovers Café
  • 1841
  • Bramble
  • Cafe Strange Brew
  • Comet Pieces
  • Singl-end Garnethill
  • Cafe Roma

Upon announcing the shortlist, awards organisers Creative Oceanic say: "The awards are voted for by the Scottish public who experience the joy of a good coffee daily when they get their morning cup or a hot beverage in the afternoon to keep the energy going.

"The Scottish Cafe Awards 2022 promises to be a memorable night dedicated to the country’s café industry that employs hundreds of people, enhancing the prosperity of the Scottish communities."

A Spokesperson for the Scottish Café Awards 2022 said: "Coffee is the most popular drink worldwide and the trade values billions of pounds.

"As a result, the Scottish Café industry has seen a massive growth over the past few years with many new coffee shops entering the sector, increasing the competition.

"This ceremony aims to acknowledge those who have played a great role in making this sector one of the most profitable industries in this country.

"Undoubtedly, there are coffee lovers in Scotland who look for not just a coffee, but a true masterpiece. These finalists reflect those who put so much effort into providing high quality of food, snacks and hot beverages to the costumers across the country."
