Glasgow's Tall Ship is hosting a special boat launch tomorrow - here's everything you need to know

People in Glasgow can witness a very special boat launch in the heart of the city next week.

Lord Provost Eva Bolander will launch the Kelvin Kelpie on Monday.

The St Ayles skiff has been hand built by Glasgow Coastal Rowing Club (GCRC) in a workshop at the Tall Ship at Riverside.

The launch will take place at Kelvin Harbour at 2.30pm and is expected to draw large crowds from across the city.

GCRC hope the launch will encourage more people in the city to take up coastal rowing.

Building began in October 2018 and involved around 12 club members working at the Clyde Maritime Trust workshop.

The project was completed over the course of 28 weeks totalling over 1120 person hours.

The launch is free and anyone is free to come along and watch. For more information on Coastal

Rowing and club membership please contact the Glasgow Coastal Rowing Club via their website .
