Glasgow's south side welcomes new mural on display at Tramway

The southside of Glasgow is now home to a new mural which has gone on display at Tramway.

Entitled 'Big Broon Stressed Oot Eyes', the mural is part of Tramway's programme to bring art into the public realm while the art-space, located on Albert Drive in Pollokshields, is unable to open.

Local artist Rabiya Choudhry is behind the colourful street-facing new mural, which depicts two large peering anxiously from Tramway's two front gallery windows and was created in response to our current collective moment.

Choudry, who cites Glasgow's 'dark as hell' sense of humour as the greater influence on her work, creates works that explore the complicated coupling of eastern and western cultures in richly vibrant portrayals of the different autobiographical factors in her life.

The new mural comes just days after a new artwork popped up on Abercrombie Street in the east end of the city.

The mural, believed to be the work of artist Mark Worst - who is responsible for dozens of street art pieces in Paisley and Glasgow - depicts a woman with her head covered by a shawl, surrounded fish and marine life.

The artwork can be viewed from Albert Drive, outside the front gallery, from 10am-4pm daily.
