It's been a favourite landmark for years with Glaswegians as they flock from Exhibition Centre station to the Hydro or SEC for a gig.
And now the covered walkway over the Clydeside Expressway, referred to by the council at least as the ‘Smartie tube’, has achieved recognition for its importance as a major city cycle route.
A new worldwide study by a Colombian investigatory group has named it as the second best cycle route on the planet.
The study was conducted Sustainable Mobility Research Group (GIMS in Spanish), based at the Colombian National University and who research mobility levels for residents in cities across the globe.
GIMS named the route second in its top 15 in the world list, behind another in Xiamen, China, after analysing newspaper articles dedicated to routes across the globe and how much they impact society, culture and economy, as well as their appearance.

The author of the study, Daniel González Núñez, told Glasgow Live: "The Glasgow route came second because of its recognition in several journalistic and tourist articles (which also made up their own cycling routes).
"I specifically highlighted the SEC walkway that connects the bicycle route and the public rail transport network with the Scottish Event Campus by means of a bridge.

"This section manages the balance between the pedestrian crossing and the bicycle crossing in an important way and it is also a way to get to places of interest, promoting sustainability and culture.
"Also, because it was recently renovated so it looks modern and attractive with a beautiful view of the city."
Nice to hear some nice things about a landmark used every day by so many - maybe we shouldn't be taking it for granted, Glasgow!
