Glasgow’s rising star Joesef announces home town show at Barrowland Ballroom this year

Gigs and festivals have been sorely missed over the last year due to the coronavirus pandemic, so when Glasgow's own Joesef announced he will be playing at the Barrowlands this October, we couldn't contain our excitement.

And clearly no one else could either as the pre-sale tickets sold out extremely quickly, but fear not, general sale tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am for the much anticipated gig which will take place on October 22.

Joesef's latest release, the Late To The Party EP, features incredible, stripped-back takes on three of his early releases, Loverboy, Limbo and Does It Make You Feel Good.

So if that's anything to go by, his gig at the Barrowlands is not to be missed!

Joesef went from obscurity to one of Scotland’s biggest rising stars overnight, with the Glasgow East End singer starting off writing and recording songs in his bedroom.

His incredible heartbreak ballads quickly gained a cult following and he sold out his first gig at iconic venue King Tut's before he had even released a single track.

At just 25, he has secured a spot at TRNSMT, performed on Later With Jools Holland and his music is on the Fifa 21 soundtrack.

Speaking previously to The Record, Joesef said: "I started making tunes after being encouraged by my mate, who's now my manager, to try and write music after we went to an open mic and I got up after a good few pints."

"He thought I had potential and I wasn’t doing anything else so I thought f***k it."

His career highlight came when he performed to thousands of fans in a sold-out show in Glasgow's SWG3.

"It was probably the best night of my life. I usually sort of black out on stage because of nerves but I felt like I could really take it all in that night, it was incredible".

The soulful crooner says he doesn’t take life too seriously and loves "binge drinking and ruining my life with my mates when there’s not a pandemic on."

Joesef looks for humour and confidence in others. He said: " think if somebody carries themselves well it's kind of magnetic."

The talented singer will also be playing at TRNSMT this year.

Tickets for the Barrowlands gig go on sale this Friday (May 7) at 10am - Don't miss out!
