Glasgow's own Banksy takes aim at mass consumerism in new mural in the west end

Glasgow's very own 'Banksy', the Rebel Bear, has unveiled his latest mural in the west end.

The thought-provoking street art on Caledonian Crescent depicts a man in a suit writing 'I Will Buy More Stuff' on a chalkboard, Bart Simpson style, with his suitcase sitting on the pavement.

The piece seems to be a timely, thinly-veiled swipe at consumerism. With Black Friday weekend in full swing and Christmas shopping season upon us, we'd be lying if we said we didn't feel a wee bit guilty about spending money in the sales.

The Rebel Bear is well known for his politically-charged art which has appeared throughout the city, having previously taken aim at The Old Firm, Brexit and the evolution of gender roles.

In August, he took aim at world leaders Donald Trump, Kim Jong-un and UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson by painting them as babies in nappies in the Woodlands.

Before that, he created a mural having a go at Mark Zuckerberg for hypnotising us all with Facebook on an underpass near Victoria Park in the west end back in June.
