Glasgow's newest home development gets underway - everything you need to know

Building work for new housing in Glasgow's east end is underway.

Newhall Street, on the banks of the River Clyde, will see five new apartment blocks completed by August 2024. Each block will house one and two-bedroom apartments as part of the east end's regeneration.

There will be 151 homes built in total. Once completed, the development will provide direct access to the city centre in addition to being only a short walk from Glasgow Green.

Swan Group are starting this development after Covid-19 caused delays with the initial project timeline.

Phil McGinlay, Managing Director of Swan Group, said: “Given recent hurdles and present economic uncertainty, we are proud to see our continued hard work pay off as another stage of the development process is achieved. The team has worked through a variety of obstacles to reach this point, dealing with restricted working conditions, constrained working partners and heightened economic pressures to name a few.

"The resilience of our team is now being rewarded as construction commences on-site to deliver a high-quality development.”
