Glasgow's Junction 1 festival's Saturday main stage cancelled leaving ticket holders fuming

Acts set to perform on the main stage at Glasgow's Junction 1 festival were cancelled last minute, leaving ticket holders fuming.

The music event has been taking place in the city this weekend with bands and musicians including 'The Wailers' and 'Faithless' ready to play to the crowd.

However, Junction 1 put out a social media post on Friday confirming popular act Norman Jay was unable to take to the main stage. Festival goers were left disappointed when an email from organisers appeared to confirm even more cancellations including N.O.W, Soul II Soul and Sister Bliss.

Ticket holders have since taken to social media to share their frustration, with one saying: "The whole thing is outrageous! The email says that Leftfield are still on, is this accurate? No point in going otherwise! I've traveled from Fort William for this and know folk have traveled much further."

One commenter posted the contents of an email shared by the organisers, that read: "Dear all, We are sorry to announce that due to technical issues beyond the artists and festivals control, we have taken the very difficult decision to postpone todays main stage performances from N.O.W, Soul II Soul & Sister Bliss. We are currently working with all artists to find a suitable rescheduled date. We are happy to announce that ‘The Garden’ stage will still go ahead as planned with doors opening at 4pm.

Set times are as follows:

2130 - 2300 - Erol Alkan

2000 - 2130 - Leftfield

1900 - 2000 - Nightwave

1800 - 1900 - Ooft!

1700 - 1800 - Magic City

1600 - 1700 - DJ Peanut

"Tomorrow’s performances from Groove Armada, Kelis & more will go ahead as planned."

Another angry commenter said: "It's not worth going at all then. I've no idea who the others are. I mean no offence to them it's just not my scene."

While another said: "Really? So the 1,000+ people that were there last night are supposed to crowd into that small DJ tent meant for a few hundred people with most of the headliners cancelled??? NOPE. And George from Nightmares was behind the decks with Giles last night - why can't he play the main stage??? Super fishy."

One had already decided to head home, writing: "Total jokesters !!! I’m half way home to Edinburgh!! They would have know this ahead of today and said nothing! Let’s hope we all get our money back!"

Some ticket holders claimed they hadn't received any correspondence from organisers regarding acts cancelling and were left extremely disappointed to find out on social media.

Glasgow Live have contacted Junction 1 for comment.
