First of all, if you're reading this on December 31 - we wish you a happy New Year when it comes.

And we of course hope this year is a better one for us all.

If we look ahead to the weather that we'll expect on the on the last day of 2021, it seems like it is going to be a pretty wet one - and the rest of the week seems to be like that too.

Originally, as we reported on Tuesday (December 28), the Met Office predicted that thunder and lightning was due to hit the city on the first day of 2022 and last two hours starting at 1pm and ending at around 3pm.

It will then turn drier in the afternoon but remaining cloudy continuing with its breezy and mild conditions.

They add: "New Year's Day will have a dry and bright start, but it will turn wet and windy later on with spells of rain moving in from the west. Sunday (January 2) will have a mostly dry start, however, spells of rain will move in from the west at times through the rest of the day. Monday will continue similarly, with spells of rain at times. Turning less mild towards the end of the day."
