Glasgow's first Christmas Day baby arrives at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital

It's the most wonderful time of year, and for the Simpson family, it's the happiest day of the year.

Welcoming little baby Layla Simpson to the world at 7.03am this morning, Layla was Glasgow's first Christmas baby born at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital's maternity ward.

Her mum Rachel and her partner are over the moon.

Unfortunately, this year due to COVID-19 photographers are not allowed into the wards - but we can imagine she is as beautiful and bouncing as babies come.

Elsewhere in Scotland, a family in the Lothians are celebrating today after they welcomed baby Dallas into the world during the wee small hours of Christmas morning.

First-time parents Kim, 33, and Donald Dallas, 32, from Edinburgh welcomed a very special delivery at 4.10am on Christmas Day.

The tot, who hasn't been named, is known as baby Dallas.

He was born at NHS Lothian's Birth Centre, part of the Simpson’s Centre for Reproductive Health at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh and tipped the scales at 9lb 2oz.
