The Duke of Wellington statue in the city centre has been given a new-look traffic cone to show support for war-torn Ukraine.
Garry McWhirter was captured climbing up a set of ladders to swap the Duke's iconic hat for one resembling the Ukrainian flag in a video posted to Twitter yesterday.
The blue and yellow cone was also topped with a bunch sunflowers, which are a symbol of peace in Ukraine, the Daily Record reports.
Garry said his wife came up with the idea of decorating the cone.
He said : "My wife came up with idea and did the crochet work. I just climbed the ladder."
This isn't the first time the Duke's cone has been swapped.
In January 2020 it was changed to a blue one with yellow stars to mark Britain officially leaving the European Union.
The statue of the former prime minister has for years been targeted by students and revellers who put an orange traffic cone on his head.
Plans in 2013 to raise the statue to stop cones being placed on its head were withdrawn after a public outcry.
