Glasgow's Clutha Bar paints huge mural in support of Ukraine amid Russian invasion

Glasgow's infamous Clutha Bar has shown their support for Ukrainians by painting a fabulous new mural on their exterior.

The Clutha Bar, a solid Glasgow favourite, already has popular paintwork with the Charles Rennie Macintosh on the gable even sporting a facemask during the pandemic.

Other favourites on the outside include Billy Connolly and Paolo Nutini.

And now the bar has the colors of the Ukrainian flag on its roof to show solidarity with Ukraine during the illegal invasion of the country by Russian troops.

Bar bosses took to Twitter to share the new mural, writing: "Our gable wall needed a fresh coat of paint, so...

"We stand with the Children - Women and Men of Ukraine."

The news comes as Scottish political leaders have written a joint letter to the Prime Minister calling for an end to visa requirements for Ukrainian refugees and a comprehensive settlement programme.

Leaders of the SNP, Scottish Labour, the Scottish Lib Dems and the Scottish Greens co-signed the letter, which said refugees still faced a "complex bureaucratic process".

The Home Secretary has announced that from Tuesday people fleeing Ukraine will be able to apply online for a visa and will no longer have to go to a processing centre to give their biometrics.

Around 2.2 million people are thought to have fled Ukraine since Russia's invasion on February 24.
