Glasgow's Christmas markets have been cancelled due to lockdown restrictions in the city.
Organisers have been forced to shut down the festive event over coronavirus fears this year.
The popular stalls usually set up in George Square and St Enoch's Square will not be going ahead to protect public health and safety.
A statement from organisers reads: "It is with much sadness that we confirm that together with Glasgow City Council, we have mutually agreed that in light of the current lockdown restrictions and continuing covid19 restrictions the Glasgow Christmas Markets 2020 will not take place.
"The decision has been taken after much discussion and careful consideration of the on-going restrictions required to stem the spread of the Coronavirus.
"Public safety has to be at the forefront of our decisions at this very difficult time.
"Finally we wish you good health and a happy and peaceful festive season."
A council spokesman said: “It’s a source of significant disappointment but with the city continuing to be affected by Covid-19 it has been concluded it would be inappropriate to go ahead with Glasgow’s Christmas Markets this year.
“This decision has been reached in consultation with our Christmas market provider, Marketplace Europe Ltd, following careful consideration of the on-going restrictions required to stem the spread of the virus.
“We look forward to working with Market Place (Europe) Ltd in delivering the Christmas markets’ again in 2021.”
