Glasgow's newest and 'biggest beer garden' could be set to open to the public this Saturday, the team behind the iconic Rotunda site has revealed.
Bosses confirmed that though the new Cranside Kitchen site in Finnieston won't be 100% complete, should Nicola Sturgeon give the say-so on Thursday the new venue will host an invite-only 'soft-opening' event on Friday with a view to being open to the public from 10am on Saturday morning.
The free-to-enter outdoor venue with a food market and beer garden will then open seven days a week.
Building teams are already hard at work building on a private patio and existing space close to the famous building which is currently used for parking - with construction expected to be completed early next week.
The plans, which were revealed yesterday, will see two two ‘pergolas’ style marquees built to cover customers, new trees and greenery, industrial walls, bespoke picnic tables and outdoor furnishings.
Strict social distancing guidelines will be in place but the venue is expected to be able to hold over 200 people and won't require booking in advance to enjoy.
The management added that the site will be family and dog friendly, with food and drink menus to cater for all tastes and ages.
The venture is being spearheaded by the team behind popular Glasgow restaurants Halloumi, Bibimbap, La Rotunda and Rioja.
Boss Toni Carbajosa said: "If the First Minister stands up on Thursday and makes the announcement we’ll be ready to go – hopefully within 24 hours."
