Glasgow's Ashton Lane and King Tuts venue get shout on Coronation Street

Scottish Coronation Street fans were buzzing after Glasgow got a special mention in last night's episode of the popular soap.

The iconic music venue King Tuts Wah Wah Hut was given a special shout out, alongside Ashton Lane as Corrie's Adam Barlow, played by Scottish actor Sam Robertson, gave the city a rave review.

The Scots soap character gushed about the city after overhearing Asha Alahan discussing whether or not to move to the city to study at Glasgow University.

Last week Asha, played by Tanisha Gorey, confided in her brother Aadi that she was keen on applying to Glasgow University and would like to study there.

The clip sees Dev Alahan discussing universities in Glasgow with his daughter Asha, when the resident Scotsman in Weatherfield Adam Barlow gives the city a glowing review.

The clip begins as Adam chimes in asking: "Is someone going to Glasgow?"

Asha tells him she isn't sure if she will go.

"My baby's got a tour of the uni tomorrow," adds Dev.

Adam raves: "Aw you'll love it Asha, it's an amazing city.

"Great for students, there's five universities in one city so there's plenty of pubs and clubs.

"You've got live gigs in King Tuts, nights out on Ashton Lane and it does the best takeaway in the country - chicken chasni was invented in Glasgow."

Ash, referring to the curry, quips: "I've never heard of it."

"No, no well you can't get it outside the west of Scotland," Adam adds.

Trying to persuade his daughter, Dev asks: "So you really recommend it then Ads?"

Adam boasts: "If it wasn't for Sarah and Harry, I'd move back in a hurry. Good luck."

Eagle-eyed viewers couldn't help but notice the enthusiastic compliments about the Scottish city on the ITV soap.

King Tuts Wah Wah Hut even shared a video of the scene writing: "Some great advice from Adam on @itvcorrie. We'll see you in Tut's when you make it to Glasgow Asha! @tanishagorey "

Glasgow Tourism shared the tweet, writing: "Any @itvcorrie fans see #Glasgow getting a glowing mention in last nights show!"

Fans of the show loved the Scottish references as well, paying tribute to the iconic Glasgow venue and popular West End drinking slots and took to Twitter to say so.

One wrote: "Loving the enthusiastic references to #Glasgow in tonight's @itvcorrie. Though, it would appear that #Dev is mixing up his University campuses... #Corrie "

"Loving Adam Barlows sell of Glasgow @CaledonianNews @itvcorrie," said another.

Another happy fan said: " @itvcorrie thanks for mentioning just some of the fab things our wonderful city of Glasgow has to offer - @kingtuts, #ashtonlane and of course the #chickenchasni. The Neelim on Dumbarton Road do THE best Chasnis!"

A fourth viewer penned: "Im loving Glasgow getting a lot of attention tonight"

Coronation Street continues tomorrow on ITV and ITV Hub.
