Glasgow Royal Infirmary 'angel' nurse spreads festive cheer in wards with covid-safe children's drawings

A Glasgow Royal Infirmary nurse has delighted patients in her ward by collecting pictures drawn in her daughter's school and laminating them to make them covid-safe.

With decorations and visiting hours minimised due to the transmissions risk, Nurse Linzi took it upon herself to spread the festive cheer.

She arranged with head teacher Mrs King at her daughter Lacey's school St.Philomena’s in Glasgow's east end for the kids to draw christmas pictures.

Linzi, who overcame COVID-19 earlier this year, laminated them so they could be sanitised in the wards and now the walls of the receiving ward are adorned with over 70 Christmas creations.

She has worked so hard this year her face is even included on the NHS t-shirt, worn by the likes of celebrities Melanie Sykes.

Her mother Kathleen Greener told Glasgow Live: "Linzi has been through so much this year, and still, she just smiles.

"She’s so unselfish with the kids. Linzi has worked on the receiving ward for 15 or 16 years and she deals with everything.

"The pictures are amazing, it just shows you that the kids minds are so lovely. The patients and staff loved the, and it's just  something simple but it's made so many people so happy.

"We are all just so proud of her".

To all the children in St. Philomena's who made incredible drawings, and to Nurse Linzi - well done and thank you from all at Glasgow Live!
