Glasgow rockers Glasvegas to perform surprise set at east end record shop for Record Store Day

Glasgow rockers Glasvegas are to perform a surprise set at an east end record shop tomorrow for Record Store Day.

James and Robert from the band will be performing a selection of hits - and maybe a new track to boot - for fans at much-loved record store Blitzkrieg Shop on London Road at The Barras at 2pm tomorrow afternoon.

The vinyl LP version of their fourth studio album Godspeed will be available to purchase along with a special limited edition print created especially for Record Store Day by frontman James Allan entitled 'Godspeed, Dennistoun'.

It will be printed on Museum Heritage 310 gsm Acid free Paper using Epson K3 Ultrachrome inks.

About the performance, James said: “It is exciting, playing there. It’s something I don’t do often enough, I like just grabbing the guitar and then there’ll be people standing right in front of you and you get to share some songs with them.

"And it’s a good place to do it, because there are less and less record shops. These places are important and they get more and more rare. Blitzkrieg is a brilliant place.”

Alan McGee – the band’s co-manager – recently proclaimed Blitzkrieg to be 'the best record shop in Scotland'. And James feels we all need to do what we can to support it and stores like it.

He said: "Definitely, as I mentioned they are getting more and more rare. And these places are so important, both for the support they provide to musicians and for the connection you as a consumer get to the music."

With lots of big plans coming your way soon, James also says he is looking forward to getting out and up close to more fans as the summer goes on.

He added: "I hope to share new music, more new ideas, more new ideas in the new music… and play more gigs.. We’ve been talking about maybe doing some acoustic shows as well, because we loved doing that in 2019. Yeah, I think just expect the unexpected and even then we might surprise you…”
