Glasgow road accident sparks traffic diversions as emergency services attend scene

Emergency services are dealing with a road traffic collision in the south side of Glasgow, near the River Clyde.

The two vehicle smash occurred after 10am this morning (January 14) at the junction of Shawfield Road and Shawfield Drive.

Glasgow City Council's traffic management team (TRAFFCOM) issued an alert at 10.30am confirming that the junction will be subject to lane restrictions until further notice while emergency services attend the scene.

Road users should follow their direction.

The TRAFFCOM alert reads: "Due to a road traffic collision at the junction of Shawfield Road/Shawfield Drive, this junction will be subject to lane restrictions until further notice.

"Emergency Services are in attendance and road users should follow their direction.

"Further Bulletins will be issued as more information becomes available.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "We were called to a crash involving two vehicles at the junction of Shawfield Road and Shawfield Drive in Glasgow around 10am on Friday, 14 January.

"One person has been treated by the ambulance service at the scene and recovery has been arranged for the vehicles."

Update: The junction has now been cleared and all lanes are operating fully.
