Glasgow restaurants scoop top prizes at Scottish Asian Food Awards

Glasgow restaurants are celebrating success today after scooping top prizes at the Scottish Asian Food Awards.

Dozens of eateries across the city were nominated for the awards, with the ceremony taking place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel last night.

The awards, in its second year, celebrates the country's best Asian restaurants, takeaways and food venues, recognising: "those who work their hardest to service the Asian food industry which is growing and diversifying each year."

Here's a rundown of all of Glasgow's award winners:

5 Star Indian Restaurant of the Year South West: Green Chilli Cafe

5 Star Indian Restaurant of the Year Overall Winner: Green Chilli Cafe

Outstanding Indian Restaurant of the Year South West: Dalshannon Farm Indian Restaurant (Cumbernauld)

Outstanding Indian Restaurant of the Year Overall Winner: Dalshannon Farm Indian Restaurant (Cumbernauld)

Nepalese Restaurant of the Year: Himalayan Dine

Malaysian Restaurant of the Year: Julie’s Kopitiam

South Indian Restaurant of the Year: Rishis Indian Aroma

Unique Asian Restaurant of the Year: Steak Inn

Organisers Award for Outstanding Restaurant: Turban Tandoori

Sushi Restaurant of the Year: Oiishi Japanese Restaurant (East Kilbride)

Asian Street Food Restaurant of the Year: The Hanoi Bike Shop

Special Recognition Award: Namak Mandi

New Business of the Year: Mikaku

Irfan Younnis, CEO for Oceanic Consulting who organise the awards, said following the ceremony: "I’d like to say a massive congratulations to all winners and finalists from the 2 Scottish Asian Food Awards 2019.

"This campaign designed to honour all varieties of Asian cuisine has done brilliantly across the UK and it started in Scotland last year.

"We’re proud to honour and celebrate the individuals who open Scotland’s doors to Asia’s kitchen."
